ACTION / Masses

The teen mass is at 7:30 p.m. on most Sundays during the school year, a time chosen to allow the participants time to have dinner with their families. The celebration takes place in the casual atmosphere of our Xavier Room and gives the opportunity for "teaching" elements within the mass. Three of our parish priests rotate the responsibility for saying this mass, and the teens are able to get to know their priests "up close" in this atmosphere.

There are discussion groups that meet after the mass, which are led by young adults designated as Reflection Assistants (RAs). The discussion material includes catechetical elements based on the Scripture of the day, the homily, or are Reflections on the ACTION service activities. This focus helps our teen members of ACTION discern how the youth group is meeting Catholic Social Teachings. The discussion material is generated by Mary Therese Brown, who is the director of ACTION.
