SFX School is our parish school for children in grades pre-K through 8. The school recently celebrated its centennial and continues to educate Wilmette children in a Catholic tradition based both on academic success and on faith-based values.
The church also provides a Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) for children K-8 who do not attend the parish school. The curriculum is tailored to each grade level, with a special emphasis on sacramental preparation in the classes that make their First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
The Sunday 9:30 am Mass is our Liturgy of the Word for Children. Due to the popularity of this program, we are looking for more Adult Leaders and junior high/high school students to help out. Please contact Debbie Miller by email or at (224) 422-6464 with any questions or to sign up! We look forward to having you join our team.
At St. Francis we also offer a number of religious education programs for adults, most notably the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). We welcome all those who are considering joining the Catholic Church to look into our RCIA program, which includes weekly sessions that are lead by parishioners. These meetings explore the history and doctrine of the Church to help prepare candidates for this sacrament.
*All who work or volunteer with youth ministry at St. Francis Xavier Church or School are required to complete a background check and a training session. Find out more about this process and the Chicago Archdiocesan Requirements for "Protecting God's Children."
