Parish Religious Education Program/PREP

The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) provides religious education to children of the parish in grades K through 8. The program offers an educational opportunity as well as experiences of community, service and worship.
PREP has a set curriculum in accordance with the Archdiocese of Chicago guidelines. The curriculum covers Creed, Sacraments, Christian living, Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, Christian Prayer, and Church with age-appropriate activities and experiences. PREP is in session on Sunday mornings from 9:00 – 10:10 am September through May. PREP activities also include a Christmas concert and family gatherings in Advent and Lent.
Preparation for the reception of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation is the focus of the second and eighth grade curriculum. All candidates of the parish come together with other parents and candidates preparing to receive these sacraments for additional sessions and experiences. The celebrations of these sacraments are parish events.
A PREP Parent Advisory Board is active in supporting and evaluating the program. They seek out the views, concerns, and ideas of the parents of PREP and work closely with the program director.
