Men of the parish interested in assisting our mission of helping those in need are most welcome to come to any of our meetings to learn about the "Society".

The Society is a lay association of volunteers, freely gathered together to enhance their personal spiritual growth and development and, as a result of this growing spirituality, to act out their Faith commitment in service to one another and the needy of our immediate community, the greater Chicago community and the Church of Chicago.

The works of the Conference are to give person-to-person service, assistance with problems of a spiritual nature, the provision of temporary assistance in emergencies with funds raised from various resources, and the assessment and referral to suitable professional agencies of individuals and families in more serious long term need.

Rule of the Society:

The first priority of the Conference is to serve those in need through one-on-one communication, and jointly seek resolution to problems in the spirit of justice and charity. Vincentians work in teams of two, calling on the client in need, listening to and assessing the adversity. The solution often evolves from 1. Satisfying an immediate crisis, and, 2. Referral to other agencies for a more long-term resolution. The team reports back to the Conference with their observations and recommendations, which are ratified by the organization. All inquiries and exchange of information, as well as identity of the client, are strictly confidential.
