Knitting Ministry Schedule Summer 2012
Monday, June 25
Monday, July 16
Monday, August 20
The Saint Francis Xavier Knitting Ministry has been active and growing since 2006. We gather in the Upper Room of the Parish Office, beginning at 7 p.m., usually twice a month to knit and pray for the needs of those who will receive these handiworks. Shawls, as well as blankets, hats and scarves, are made for joyous occasions as well as persons in need of spiritual comfort due to illness or loss of a loved one. The work is done with intentionality, praying for healing, comfort and support through all of life's events.
Experience is not required. We are happy to teach and encourage beginners. Knitters begin with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. Some recipients have continued the kindness by making a shawl and passing it on to someone else in need. Thus, the blessing ripples from person to person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, loving God!
All prayer shawls are given freely. Many materials are also donated, so check with us to see if we have something that you might like to work with.
