Men’s Spirituality Group
Men need a spiritual outlet. At St. Francis Xavier, this need is met by the Men's Spirituality group. We meet on a monthly basis during the school year. Typically we meet in small groups and study topics that are tailored to meed the specific needs of men. Our members come from all ages and backgrounds. Though we have a social component, we are not principally a social organization. Our goal is to provide a safe and rewarding spiritually focused experience for the men of St Francis Xavier.
Although we consistently start our year with an opening retreat, the programs vary year by year. However, our activities generally center around three or four elements: experiential rituals, use of outdoor venues whenever possible, study of the writings and teaching of Richard Rohr, and member participation in a gospel-centered session. We also usually invite a couple guest speakers per year.
Our small group discussions have been the key to our process since the group was first organized. The feedback we continually get from out core members is that we are hitting the mark and the participants leave our sessions refreshed and renewed. Our sharing sessions let men know that they are not alone on their spiritual journeys.
